The First Day of Summer

Wednesday was the Summer Solstice, and what a beautiful day it was.  The Terrys, however, did not celebrate by dancing naked in the moonlight.  Instead, we celebrated by changing the pace of our summer thus far and staying AT. HOME. ALL. DAY.

And eating the first tomato sandwich of the season.  Yum!

This little guy decided not to nap very well.  He did, however, play with his shape sorter for the first time.  He decided that it was easier to take the top off of the box than sort his shapes :)  He has his Daddy's brain and thinks outside the box (no pun intended).  His Mama, on the other hand...if the shapes are "supposed" to go in the top of the box, then the shapes are going in the TOP of the box, dangit.

The girly is 7 going on 17.  Found her in the closet, sitting in her laundry basket, listening to music while googling the lyrics so she could get ALL of the words right.  And no, she doesn't have a purple and green polka dotted tail :)  That's her prized stuffed snake, compliments of her Papa.

And my man?  I think he secretly wanted to be on the blog too.  So, he helped clean up the kitchen (which I cooked in ALL AFTERNOON making homemade meatballs with a little man attached to my legs.  Never again, Pioneer Woman, never again.).  He got out the aluminum foil, and unrolled the whole thing.  Oops!

He redeemed himself by rerolling it.  Nicely and neatly.  Hmph.

Mental note:  Add aluminum foil to the grocery list!

It has taken me all day Thursday to clean up our Wednesday, which happens when you spend the longest day of the year in your pajamas :)  Yesterday was fun, but there was definitely no housework involved.  I'm so grateful for long, lazy summer days with my babies--

Quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep...I'm playing with my babies, and babies don't keep.
